Papermaking Workshop Colours Class
February 3 @ 12:00 pm - 4:30 pm$160
Papermaking is my most favourite craft out of everything I teach! Imagine tearing up paper you have already used (extra satisfyingly tearing up your bills) and then recycling it back into paper in a new and interesting form that can then be turned into beautiful books, cards or stationery. The crazy things you can add and dye paper pulp with is truly unlimited. When I first learnt how to make paper, I became like a mad papermaking scientist / addict and tried adding pretty much everything to it, some with ecstatically pleasing results and others not so much. Luckily, I have narrowed down some really nice recipes guaranteed to make beautiful batches of paper that I want to teach you. We will work with colour, flower petals and vegetables outside on the table under the big leafy tree and you will take home your own big pile of assorted papers for drying. You can book into any of our bookbinding classes afterwards, bring your papers and learn how to turn them into journals, notepads or photo albums.
You will learn:
- About papermaking equipment
- Effects of using different grades of paper
- How to make paper pulp & size it
- Packing a post & couching
- Consistency of sheet thickness
- Pressing, drying and processing the paper
- Samples of products you can make with handmade paper.
All materials and Afternoon tea provided.
Please note: This class will feature all of the above but with a focus on making coloured sheets of paper using different dying techniques. Click on blog post to read more.
